May Fort Wayne Dancesport Dance: Youth Fund-Raiser


The May Fort Wayne Dancesport Dance will be Saturday, May 19, 2007, from 7
p.m. to 11 p.m. at IPFW's Walb Memorial Ballroom. 

Youth couple dancingThis will be our annual 50s-60s youth fund-raiser dance.
Period costume is encouraged. The dance will include swing, twist and hula
hoop events and demonstrations. Period cars will be on display. 

There will be no dance lesson at this dance, so general dancing will begin
earlier than usual. 

Admission prices for this dance are different than our normal dances and are
as follows: Adult members, $10. Adult non-members, $15. Youth members, $5.
Youth non-members $8. 

Proceeds from this event will go to Fort Wayne Dancesport's Youth Fund,
which is used to promote ballroom dancing among youth in the Fort Wayne
area. Over the past few years Fort Wayne Dancesport has used income from the
annual youth fund-raiser dance in several ways to promote ballroom dancing
among the youth of our area. For example: 

*	Scholarships for youth who were interested in competition dancing;
*	Subsidized bus trips to enable youth to travel to events such as the
Indiana Roof Ballroom dances;
*	Workshops specifically for youth dancers
*	Grants to enable local dance studios to provide youth training and
events
